There is nothing like Autumn. Every city sees its colors changing during this time of the year.

Even though it is still warm in Barcelona, you can see that the city has changed from the hot summer. You feel like it can breathe again as tourists are gone and that locals are more cheerful and feel more at home. Most of them left during August, maybe to avoid the tourists crowd… who knows…?

Anyway, Barcelona is a beautiful city but that is something everyone already knows. But I feel like you can see its true colors and I feel like this is the time to really enjoy this incredible place that has been granted with such rich cultural inheritance.

It is almost time to go home but I am not sure I am done here… We shall see

There is actually no prince in this story. And there is no castle. And this is not a fairy tail.

As I said, Barcelona has been very influenced by Gaudi’s work and what else could demoonstrate this better than the famous The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, in English: Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family, in Spanish: Basílica y Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia), commonly known as the Sagrada Família.

This is more than just a cathedral. This large Roman Catholic church is an impressive work of art with so many signification and religious and connotations to nature that you can list them all down. It is impossible.

Gaudi did not manage to finish this master piece. It actually drove him crazy even though he knew he would not be able to finish it as it was more than a lifetime project. However he had left plans and instructions. Unfortunately Parts of the unfinished basilica and Gaudí’s models and workshop were destroyed during the war by Catalan anarchists during the Spanish Civil war that started in 1936.

The Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in November 2010 was consecrated and proclaimed a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI.Though construction of Sagrada Família had commenced in 1882, Gaudí became involved in 1883, taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style—combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms.

The Sagrada Familia is supposed to be finiseh by 2028. This is a perfect example of Gaudi’s art and talent which were and still are recognised as some of the most impressive and advanced in the world. The techniques used to imaginate and build the Cathedral were way more than avant-gardist. Gaudi showed he was w true visionary and had incredible talent that may be imposible to equal.

Being in Barcelona is amazing because there is so much to see here. I do not quite know where to begin.

Well it has been a while now that I have been here so I have tried to see as much as possible. The truth is, Barcelona has such rich cultural inheritance it is hard to see it all.

However, being in Barcelona and not seeing the Parc Guel would be a shame !  I’ve been there a couple of times now as firends have come visit me and wanted to see it as well since it is a must see in any guide of the Capital of Catalunya.

The Parc Guel was designed by Gaudi for the Family Guel. The aim was to build a small city within the city of Barcelona. Unfortunately they ran out of money and were not able to finance the whole project which turned into this beautiful parc. 

You can clearly see the work of tha architecht and artist Anthony Gaudi everywhere here. The walls, at the entrance are coverred by ceramic fragment that are in fact broken plates and many other ceramic items.

From the Parc Guel you can see all Barcelona and the beautiful Sagrada Familia with is another Master piece Gaudi designed. Gaudi lived in the parc for 10 years and you can visit his house.

It is a nice place to go to, especially during summer in the early evening. If you try to go there in the middle of the day you will be facing massive crowds gathering around the entrance and the temperature does rise up as you walk up the stairs which can be sultry.

Anyway.

It is a beautiful place to go to and I am glad I got to go there a few times. It has been different each time I went there and I got the chance to appreciate this incredible work of art from different angles and points of view.

There is even a school there, how cool would that be to say “hey I went to the school in the Parc Guel when I was little !”  ?

Going to NYC for Christmas is a almost like a dream come true for many people. It possibly the time of the year when the city is the most beautiful and cheerful. Because it is right after Thanksgiving, people are really in a holiday mood. Christmas dinner is a genuine tradition not many people would pass on over there and is definitely worth the trip for either the cultural experience or to spend times with those you love.

To really live the true experience of the holiday season in NYC, you ought to go see a Christmas show. They are mostly played on Broadway but there are many of them all across  the Big Apple.
